Peggy Box

Peggy Box is a small woman who has always been fascinated with strength. She started competing in the 114 lb weight class in 1983, quickly moving down to the 105 lb class. She realized that she was in the wrong weight class at her first national meet (her third meet) where she was the lightest one in the class by several pounds. Peggy was actually stronger at the 105 lb class and more competitive.

She was surprised and honored to make the cover of Powerlifting USA magazine after only competing for six months. She competed in many state championships and three US Women's Nationals. Peggy set many state records (squat, deadlift and total still stand) and an American record (squat record still stands). She also had a number one ranking by Powerlifting USA in squat and total and has been a state champion. Peggy was also a state and national powerlifting judge.

"It is a thrill and honor to be nominated and inducted into the Texas Powerlifting Hall Of Fame. I have made friends for life and am a believer in the adage 'strong mind and strong body working together'. This belief has helped me in all aspects of my life. I still lift four days a week but now devote my time to my art career. I haven't given up the idea of doing a bench competition in the future."
